Over the last 12 years as a wedding photographer in Ireland I’ve shot over 500 weddings. From tipee back garden weddings to country house weddings I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen tan come and go (thank goodness), tiaras turn to flower crowns and boob tubes to long sleeves. It’s only now that I’ve realised that none of these trends really matter. I’ve come to the conclusion that my best work comes from the weddings where I am trusted 100% to do what I do. The ones that leave me feeling wild, free and creative. Aimee and Adam’s wedding at Galgorm Resort was one of these.
You may remember Aimee & Adam from their Just Us session a couple of years back. Don’t underestimate the importance of the ‘Just Us’ session. I truly believe that this is where our relationship began and a huge amount of trust was built at this first meeting. During this time Aimee has trusted me with photos of her dress, we’ve discussed hair, I’ve even got to know her mum! Fast forward two years and I’m driving to their wedding looking forward to seeing these guys again, walking into their homes, meeting their families. It’s a pretty personal thing – right? It makes it a lot easier for both myself and my client if we’ve got to know each other first.
Aimee & Adam trusted me to take them out just after dinner for a sunset shoot. Look what we got!
There’s no denying this was a beautiful wedding to photograph. With amazing dresses, guys in tuxedos (I’m a sucker for guys in Tux!)and a ring bearer dog. However, without the trust of Aimee and Adam and their bridal party on the day I don’t think it would have been quite as enjoyable or amazing! These guys definitely brought out the best in me.
