To be honest Sunday was a bit of a crazy day. From exhibiting some of my work at a Wedding Fayre in the new Shandon Hotel in Donegal, packing that up and heading a couple of hours up the road to the Annual Professional Photographers Association of Northern Ireland Awards at the Galgorm Resort and Spa. Hotel hopping isn’t as glamorous as it sounds!! Behind the scenes I was a mess with a pounding sore head and a bit of makeup thrown on in the camper. Needless to say we arrived in the middle of dinner- with child- don’t ask! I’m not one for mushy sentiments but really without Troy I would be lost- he supports me in everything I do. He is my calm. I needed him on Sunday!
Each year I use the PPANI annual competition to motivate myself to produce unique work and push myself creatively. For this competition I entered just one album. I felt this album had the perfect mix of story, emotion, family and style. It took me about 4 hours to produce. It won.
I’m particularly proud to win the award for Wedding Album of the Year as it recognises the consistency in the quality of my work throughout a complete wedding day, my storytelling skills and album design. I was also the only female photographer shortlisted in the final 5.
I want to congratulate all the other members that entered. Whether you leave with an award or not it is always good to enter competitions to keep inspired, excited and creative.
I want to thank my amazing bride and groom Jemma & Tim who gave me complete creative control and totally clicked with me. Happy Anniversary guys!
