Those of you who follow me regularly will know that I have always believed that Donegal is the coolest wedding destination! Needless to say I was absolutely delighted this week to see Donegal being recognised as the Worlds coolest destination in 2017 by the National Geographic.
If there was a prize for the coolest wedding Jess and Tristan would be serious contenders! From Jess’s initial email expressing her love for Donegal and excitement to be getting married there, I knew I was the girl to shoot their Wild Atlantic Wedding! Jess and Tristan left their London life behind and truly embraced the elements of Fanad Head in Donegal.
Jess, who works in construction, swapped her hard hat for a beautiful boho flower crown and her safety boots for a gorgeous pair of Harriet Wilde wedding shoes. The little flower girls wore cute cowboy boots and handmade green velvet capes- a great idea to keep kids warm in the unpredictable Irish weather! Jess had a green (green is her favourite colour!) Mc Nutts Tweed Wrap and a purple one for her bridesmaid.
Jess and Tristan took over Drumhalla House , Rathmullan in Donegal for a more laid back feel to their wedding than a hotel. They were able to get creative with the interior of the marquee and enlisted the help of Jess’s dad, Leo, a carpenter, to make photo booths and hand made signs which added a really personal touch. There were all things nice on the Dessert Table from the very talented Helen at An Panc Patisserie including a beetroot & berry naked cake (yum). I have never seen so much energy, thought and personality go into a wedding.
When I was leaving my house on the morning of Jess & Tristan’s wedding I had to phone Troy and ask him where my Cowboy Boots were! We had a laugh about that one- that’s one of the crazy reasons I love my job so much!
